"Oh! They're hearing things without anyone paying for it! This is BAD! Very BAD! We must rid the world of this vile plague!"
Come the fuck on....I mean, really. The people who actually make the music barely get a fraction of what is being paid for anyway. It's not a matter of supporting music, it's a bunch of fucking suits telling you you've got to line their pockets with crack and hooker money because bands record in their studios.
Nevermind these guys are being contracted to put out "X" amount of albums by "Y" deadline or they suffer a breach of contract...nevermind that the creative process takes time. Music, in itself, as an "industry" doesn't work, because if you focus on quick and easy, you're going to get an earful of the same old tawdry crap, and really, if you look at the myspace players, and any number of players given in the above examples, they tend to focus so much more on the mass produced may-as-well-have-been-made-in-China type shit I'm talking about.
It's not about the protection of anything, other than the assets of some guy who is in all honesty not associated with the creative process by any means, but puts on the big ridiculously feathered I-hold-the-power hat.
Granted, it does teeter on the edge of violating what I deem to be the sanctity of intellectual property (in my mind, pretty much the only thing in existence worth being sacred), but the playlist gives credit to the artist involved. You don't see anybody suing the scene bitches who dare to think they're "trendy" and "cultured" because they throw Warhol's renditions of Marilyn Monroe on their backgrounds, and yet when music enters the equation, executives dig their crooked pointing fingers out of the closet and have a heyday. Why the hypocrisy?

Thank you for the watch!
